The World Photographic Cup has just wrapped up in Sydney, Australia and the results are in. 30 national photographic teams entered the fifth edition of this one-of-a-kind competition, from Europe, Asia, North & South America and Oceania. In the end, though, there could only be one winning country. Congratulations to Team USA!
We are especially excited about the individual winners. Two from Team USA took home Gold medals including our good friend Gail Nogle. Gail’s stunning image was entered in Reportage/Photojournalism, a category that requires only single-capture images and limits digital editing. By definition these are are “images with high impact and/or lasting emotional response”, and Gail’s image certainly includes both.
“There has never been a program with photography like this”, said Giuseppe Scozzi, WPC Chief Executive. “We really experienced a groundswell of enthusiasm from photographers to create the finest they can in the hope of representing their country!” Take time to visit the World Photographic Cup website to review the winners. If these images don’t inspire you, then head to your local emergency room to have your heart checked.
Congratulations Gail Nogle and the entire Team USA. Thank you for your inspiration.
