Flash photography seems to be one of the great mysteries. Inconsistent results, confusing controls, and frustrations at every turn. You can end your frustration with flash photography when you learn how to master your camera’s flash system. Learn the secrets of flash photography in this 2-day hands-on workshop.
The workshop is designed for DSLR and mirrorless camera users of all levels. The program is divided into two parts - The Basics and Advanced Topics. Day 1 is perfect for the novice and aspiring photographer, and Day 2 takes you to the next level when you’re introduced to advanced flash techniques.
DAY 1
We introduce you to the world of flash - understanding the terminology and how to use a flash with your camera. We begin with a single flash mounted on your camera. From this simple setup, you’ll explore how the flash works together with your other camera systems to determine the proper timing and exposure.
Understand why TTL is your best friend. It lets your camera do all the work while you concentrate on creativity.
This is a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to use your flash indoors or outside - in dim and blazing sunlight. Finally, learn what it takes to get your flash off the camera. Once you do that, your lighting can improve exponentially.
DAY 2
Day 2 is optional for those who want to take their flash photography to the next level with advanced techniques and multiple flash units. Here you’ll build on what you learned on Day 1.
You’ll learn the secrets of High-Speed Sync (HSS), that nifty feature that lets you use flash out in bright sunlight. Get creative with Rear Curtain Sync, a feature every wedding photographer worth their salt learns to master. You’ll also investigate how to use multiple flash units effectively.
And finally, you’ll explore options for modifying the light produced by your flash. See how you can create studio light quality with camera flash units.
You can enroll in the basics of flash on Day 1 or sign up for both days if you want to truly understand the advanced options for your flash.
This is a hands-on workshop, so be sure to bring your camera and flash.
