Overview

In February of 2020 we took a scouting trip out to Savannah to evaluate it for a workshop location. Oh goodness, what a wonderful location for photographers. We fell in love with the place. As soon as we got back, we put together a workshop and by mid-March it was going on the calendar.

Well, not great timing but still an awesome location. Savannah will definitely be at the top of our dance card for 2021. As we try to regroup and firm up a new date, take a look at some of the things you’ll experience when you join us in Savannah.

Photos from our scouting trip in February, 2020

  • Explore the Savannah Historic District - walk the cobblestone of East River street, photographing the sights along the Savannah River.

  • Stroll through Forsyth Park - the 30 acre historic heart of Savannah. We’ll even be photographing a “Southern Belle” in the park.

  • Visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, nicknamed the Sistine of the South.

  • No trip to Savannah would be complete without a visit to the nearly century old Leopold’s Ice Cream.

  • We’ll visit the famous Bonaventure Cemetery - that’s a necessity for any visitor. We’ll also visit the not so famous (but still my favorite) Laurel Grove Cemetery.

  • There’s also countless old historic homes that are open to the public, including the Mercer-Williams House (straight from the pages of John Berendt’s novel, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”, and the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace. Juliette was the founder of the Girl Scouts of the USA and the home is now a museum created specifically for girls.
