Rob’s Back! Texas School 2025, here I come!!

Texas School is not just a class or workshop. Texas School is an experience and unless you’ve been to one, you just can’t understand. Yes, I teach a class. Consider that the main course of a feast. Visit the Texas School website to learn about all the other treats on the table.

Rob is back again with a class for photographers who want to take their skills to the next level.

• You’ll learn how to SEE and UNDERSTAND light.

• You’ll learn how to NEVER miss an exposure again.

• You’ll learn how to THINK like a photographer.

Photographic Craftsmanship class is designed to help you become an expert who blends an artisan's skills and a technician's expertise. In this class, you’ll hone your skills, master your tools, and know light. As George Eastman so eloquently said, “Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.”

We start by unlocking the mystery of photography's most fundamental element: light. You’ll explore the three key components of light and understand how the balance of these three components defines the Quality of Light. This will become a solid foundation upon which you can build your skills.

Our hands-on sessions begin in the studio with lights that you control. Learn how to measure, place, and modify these lights to build your desired image in any genre of photography. Then, learn how to blend ambient light both indoors and outside. You’ll learn how to “find” the right ambient light and how to use lighting tools to create the light that will set the mood of your photo. See how the light interacts with your subject and learn to match the right lighting tools to the subject.

Live photo shoots help you learn how to stretch yourself creatively. Create dynamic lighting that compliments your subject and grabs the viewer's attention. Push the limits of your experience well beyond what you’ve ever done.

This isn’t a recipe class, and I don’t focus on only one genre of photography. I’ll help you UNDERSTAND why different settings work well with some subjects, when to add light and when to subtract light, and how to select the appropriate lights and modifiers for any subject.
